Dhaka, Sep 11 (V7N) – Senior leaders of the Gana Odhikar Parishad have alleged that the government is delaying the arrest of those responsible for the attack on party President Nurul Haque Nur and is instead prioritizing sending him abroad for treatment.
Speaking to media in front of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Thursday morning, Senior Joint General Secretary Hasan Al Mamun said that Nur requires long-term treatment abroad due to injuries to his nose and brain sustained during the attack. While they are satisfied with the care he is receiving at DMCH, he still needs specialized treatment overseas.
Hasan also criticized the government for not taking immediate action against the army members allegedly involved in the attack.
Nurul Haque Nur was seriously injured in a clash between the Jatiya Party and the People’s Rights Council in the Bijoynagar area of Ramna on August 29 and was subsequently admitted to DMCH. On Wednesday, Nur congratulated the winners of the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) and Hall Sangsad elections despite his injuries.
