Dhaka, Sep 10 (V7N) – Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, received a courtesy call from British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Mrs. Sarah Cook on Wednesday morning at 11 am at his office in Bashundhara. Mrs. Cook was accompanied by High Commission Second Secretary Ms. Kate Ward.

During the meeting, the British High Commissioner inquired about Dr. Shafiqur Rahman’s health and wished him a full recovery, according to a press release from the party’s Central Publicity Department.

The discussion covered a wide range of topics, including the overall situation in Bangladesh, establishment of democracy, upcoming elections, human rights, the condition of minorities, and the Rohingya crisis. The meeting also focused on ways to further strengthen friendly relations between Bangladesh and Great Britain.

Also present at the meeting were Deputy Ameer and former MP Dr. Syed Abdullah Md. Taher, Assistant Secretary General and Head of the Central Propaganda and Media Department Advocate Ehsanul Mahbub Zubair, and Foreign Affairs Advisor to Ameer Professor Dr. Mahmudul Hasan.
