Dhaka, Aug 30 (V7N) – A group of protesters staged a march on Saturday afternoon, passing through Kakrail intersection and the Jatiya Party central office, where they allegedly attacked and vandalized the party’s central headquarters. The incident has sparked accusations that members of the Gono Adhikar Parishad, along with supporters of other political parties, were behind the assault.

As tensions escalated, police were forced to use tear gas and water cannons to control the situation. The attack occurred while the protesters were on their way to demand the banning of the Jatiya Party. Earlier on Friday evening, members of the Gono Adhikar Parishad had organized a separate procession calling for the Jatiya Party’s prohibition.

The protesters' violent actions have raised concerns about the growing political unrest, especially in the lead-up to the upcoming national elections. The police and local authorities have yet to make any arrests in connection with the incident, but an investigation is underway.

The Jatiya Party condemned the attack, calling it an act of political intimidation and a violation of democratic rights. Party officials have demanded that the perpetrators be brought to justice and have called for a peaceful resolution to political disputes.

While the situation remains tense, the authorities are taking measures to ensure that further protests are handled with appropriate security to prevent any escalation of violence.
