Dhaka, Aug 28 (V7N) – BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has voiced his growing frustration over the state of the nation, saying that disappointment has begun to overshadow him as he witnesses the extent of corruption and moral decline across society.

“I have never been disappointed in politics. I have always encouraged everyone. But lately, disappointment is hovering around me. Because wherever I look, most people have been ruined,” he said at a discussion marking the 10th death anniversary of former Prime Minister Kazi Zafar Ahmed at the National Press Club on Wednesday.

Fakhrul alleged that corruption has spread to offices and courts, depriving citizens of their rightful services. “Unfortunately, political leaders are also getting involved in it. This is causing more harm to the country. The change that was supposed to happen in the minds and attitudes of the people has not happened,” he observed.

The BNP leader urged everyone to come forward to “save the country” in this critical time.

Recalling the Liberation War, Mirza Fakhrul warned against attempts to erase or distort its history. “Many attempts are being made to forget 1971. But it is not possible to forget the Liberation War. Those who helped the Pakistanis during the war are talking big words today. For this, everyone must be vigilant,” he said.
