Dhaka, Aug 25 (V7N) – BNP Standing Committee Member Dr. Abdul Moin Khan has said that the people of Bangladesh are eagerly waiting to cast their votes in February, as announced by the Election Commission.

He made the remarks while paying homage at the tomb of BNP founder and former President Ziaur Rahman on the occasion of the 33rd founding anniversary of the Nationalist Freedom Fighters' Party on Monday.

Dr. Moin stated that the declaration of the tentative election schedule has raised hopes among the people that their democratic rights will be restored through a fair and impartial election.

“The people of Bangladesh can regain democracy only through a free election. Elections are the only way to elect 300 representatives of their choice,” he said.

He further alleged that the Awami League failed to play a proper role during the Liberation War, claiming, “They fled at that time. It was Ziaur Rahman who declared independence.”

The program concluded with prayers and tributes at Ziaur Rahman’s tomb.
