Dhaka, Aug 21 (V7N) – BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi criticized so-called poets, writers, and actors for what he described as their “materialistic” and “fascism-supporting” stance regarding the events of August 15. He made the remarks at the premiere of the documentary film ‘36-July’ in Tejgaon on Thursday afternoon.
Rizvi claimed that the previous fascist government rewarded artists and writers with positions and flats in exchange for loyalty, citing examples such as granting the highest police officer’s post for writing about a party founder and providing apartments to cultural figures near the runway.
Commenting on the July Movement, Rizvi described it as an epic event and called all those killed, injured, or involved historical figures. He accused Sheikh Hasina of using public funds for personal interests while in power, saying this had sparked widespread public anger.
At the same event, Nurul Haque Nur, former DUCSU Vice President and President of the People’s Rights Council, said, “I want to see a Bangladesh where the state and law enforcement agencies never stand against the people.”
