Dhaka, Aug 03 (V7N) – On the occasion of the first anniversary of the mass uprising, Bangladesh Nationalist Chhatra Dal and Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP) are jointly holding large-scale rallies in the capital today, drawing supporters and political activists from across the country.

The main rally of Chhatra Dal officially commenced at Shahbagh this morning. BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman is expected to join the event virtually from London as the chief guest, delivering a speech to address the youth and supporters gathered for the occasion.

Simultaneously, the NCP is organizing a separate program at the Central Shaheed Minar, where the party’s convener Nahid Islam is set to announce the official manifesto of the NCP. Speaking at a press conference at the party's Banglamotor office on Saturday, Nahid stated that a comprehensive roadmap for nation-building will also be unveiled during the event.

Nahid expressed gratitude to Chhatra Dal for shifting its rally to Shahbagh to ensure program coordination, and reiterated NCP’s demand for constitutional recognition of the July Declaration, calling it a key milestone in the country’s recent political awakening.

In anticipation of the gatherings, leaders and activists from both parties have arrived in the capital from various districts, with more expected to join throughout the day. The city has seen heightened political activity as the events unfold.

Due to the scale of participation, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has issued a traffic advisory, urging commuters to avoid areas like Shahbagh, Shaheed Minar, and nearby intersections. Heavy congestion is anticipated, and HSC and BCS examinees have been advised to allow extra travel time to reach their examination centers.

The rally, being observed under heightened security, marks a critical moment in the ongoing political discourse, reflecting the growing push for reform and youth mobilization across the country.
