Dhaka, July 22 (V7N) – BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has called for national unity, solidarity, and restraint in the wake of the tragic plane crash at Milestone School and College in Uttara that has left the country in mourning.

In a statement issued on Tuesday night and signed by BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Tarique Rahman expressed deep sympathy for the innocent victims and their families.

"In this time of national mourning, I appeal to all pro-democracy comrades to remain calm and united. We need to build a social system based on tolerance and self-restraint in order to stop divisive clashes or mob violence," he said.

He warned of disturbing reports that certain members of a banned student political organization were attempting to instigate unrest and create tension between the public and law enforcement.

"I request all such groups to refrain from trying to exploit this tragic moment in Bangladesh's history for personal or political gain," Rahman cautioned.

Tarique Rahman urged the nation to focus its energy on locating missing persons, providing accurate data on the deceased, ensuring proper medical care for the injured, and allowing authorities to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation into the cause of the crash.

“Let us unite as a nation and show compassion in the face of this disaster,” he added.
