Ukhiya, Dec 16 (V7N) – The Bangladesh Army has extended humanitarian support to underprivileged and cold-affected residents in Ukhiya upazila of Cox’s Bazar by distributing winter clothing, including blankets, amid intensifying winter conditions.

On Monday morning, the initiative was organized by the Ukhiya Army Camp at the premises of Ukhiya Degree College. Blankets were handed over to residents from various unions and wards, benefiting more than 400 individuals.

The distribution ceremony was attended by Camp Commander Mehrab Rahman, Senior Warrant Officer Zia, and Warrant Officer Shaheen of the Ukhiya Army Camp. Residents expressed gratitude, stating that the assistance came as a blessing during harsh winter conditions when adequate warm clothing was lacking.

Camp Commander Mehrab Rahman emphasized that supporting civilians during any national disaster or crisis is a key responsibility of the Bangladesh Army. He added that this program aimed to alleviate the hardships of the cold-affected population by providing winter essentials.

He also urged affluent members of society to step forward and support vulnerable communities, stating that collective efforts are essential to reduce the suffering caused by severe winter. The Army confirmed that such humanitarian initiatives will continue in the future to assist those in need.
