Dhaka, July 23 (V7N) – The death toll from the tragic fighter jet crash at Milestone School and College in Uttara has risen to 32, as another child, who was critically injured in the incident, died while undergoing treatment in the hospital.

The latest victim, Nafi (9), succumbed to his injuries at around 12:15 am on Tuesday (July 22) while being treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). According to hospital sources, Nafi had suffered 11 percent burns on his body. His elder sister, Nazia Tabassum Nijhum (13), also died the previous night from injuries sustained in the same incident.

Among the 32 victims confirmed dead so far are:

  • 1 Air Force pilot

  • 2 teachers

  • 26 children

  • 3 others (including one yet to be fully identified)

At least 164 individuals are still undergoing treatment at various hospitals across Dhaka. Health authorities fear the toll may rise further.

Meanwhile, the bodies of six deceased victims remain unidentified, according to the Health Ministry. DNA samples have been collected from these bodies, and family members of the missing have been urged to visit the CID Laboratory in Malibagh to provide their DNA samples to assist in identification.

This tragic accident, involving a Bangladesh Air Force FT-7 BGI fighter jet, occurred when the plane crashed into a school building in Diyabari, Uttara, on Monday afternoon. Investigations are ongoing into the cause of the crash, believed to have been caused by a mechanical failure.
