Dhaka, Jan 14 (V7N) — Students from seven colleges staged protests in the capital today, blocking major intersections to demand approval of the updated draft of the proposed Dhaka Central University ordinance and the issuance of the final ordinance by the President.
Students occupied the Science Lab, Technical, and Tantibazar intersections. Bangla College and Titumir College students were positioned at the Technical intersection, while Dhaka College, Eden College, and Badrunnesa College students gathered at the Science Lab intersection. Students from Kabi Nazrul and Shaheed Suhrawardy Colleges staged their protest at the Tantibazar intersection.
The protesters warned that the program would continue until their demands are met. They said the roads would only be vacated once a specific date for the ordinance approval is announced.
The protests caused severe traffic congestion in the surrounding areas, forcing many residents to walk to reach their destinations.
