Dhaka, Sep 24 (V7N) – Two days before the Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) elections, Abidul Islam Khan, Vice President candidate backed by Chhatra Dal, has raised concerns over a large number of ballot papers being left unprotected. He alleged that the university administration failed to respond or take action despite his complaints.
On Wednesday (Sept 24) afternoon, Abidul posted on his verified Facebook ID, stating, “The Nilkhete ballot paper incident cannot be covered up, the truth will be revealed. It is our responsibility to achieve transparency. Everything will be clear very soon, God willing. Do not be misled by the power of lies.”
Earlier, on Tuesday, Abidul along with other candidates, including VP candidate Umama Fatema and Abdul Quader, visited the Vice-Chancellor’s office to lodge formal complaints regarding alleged irregularities during the elections.
Abidul claimed that ballot papers were found unprotected at a printing press in Gausul Azam, Nilkhet, but no action was taken by the authorities. Several candidates from multiple panels had also alleged various irregularities on the election day, held on September 9.
