Savar, Sep 11 (V7N) – The ‘Sampritir Oikya’ panel has alleged that the Jahangirnagar University Central Students’ Union (JUCSU) elections are being manipulated to favor Chhatra Shibir-backed candidates.

The allegation was made by the panel’s AGS candidate Noor-e-Tamim Srot at a press conference held at Murad Chattar today around 4 pm. Noor-e-Tamim claimed that there is no clarity on how many votes have been cast in each hall or how votes will be counted. He also alleged that voting is being conducted without verifying photos, and hand markings, which are standard for voters, are not being applied. He further warned that someone could potentially vote using another person’s card.

He added that voting was stopped three times in Tajuddin Hall, which, according to him, proves that the voting process is not fair. The panel also alleged that Chhatra Shibir and student organization workers distributed leaflets promoting their candidates in nearly every hall, prompting protests from other candidates.

Meanwhile, the Chhatra Dal-backed panel also raised rigging allegations and boycotted the elections earlier today around 3:45 pm.

The JUCSU elections are continuing today, with 11,897 students eligible to vote for 25 central parliament seats. A total of 177 candidates from eight panels supported by Shibir, Chhatra Dal, the Left, and independents are participating.
