Noakhali, Dec 23 (V7N)- At least five people were killed and several others injured in a clash between two groups over the occupation of a newly emerged char in the Meghna River at Jaglalar Char, Sukhchar Union, Hatia, on Tuesday afternoon.
According to local and police sources, the conflict involved the Monir Member Group and the Shanto Group, who have been clashing intermittently in recent days over control of the char. Violence escalated on Tuesday, resulting in multiple casualties.
Hatia Police Station Officer-in-Charge Saiful Alam confirmed that police recovered five bodies from the scene. Although the clash has subsided following police intervention, tensions remain high in the area.
Police officials are currently maintaining a presence at the site to prevent further violence.
