Dhaka, Sep 22 (V7N) – The International Crimes Tribunal-1 on Monday rejected the bail petition of former state minister Kamal Ahmed Majumdar, arrested in connection with the July 2024 crimes against humanity case.
Majumdar’s lawyer appealed for both bail and advanced medical treatment, citing repeated attempts to admit him to PG Hospital, which allegedly declined admission due to lack of available seats. While bail was denied, the tribunal said it would issue an order on whether Majumdar should remain in hospital care considering his illness on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the tribunal, led by Judge Md. Golam Mortuza Majumder, is also holding the 20th day of testimony against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, and Mamun in the same case.
Today’s session includes the cross-examination of Ali Ahsan Junayed, convener of United People’s Bangladesh (UP Bangladesh) and the 48th witness in the case. His earlier testimony described atrocities during the July–August 2024 mass uprising, echoing demands from families of martyrs for exemplary punishment of those responsible.
Additionally, the tribunal is hearing the seventh day of testimony in the separate Abu Sayeed murder case.
