Dhaka, Sep 10 (V7N) – The 15th day of testimony in the trial of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, and three others in the July–August crimes against humanity case is being held today at the International Crimes Tribunal-1.

On Wednesday, the tribunal produced former IGP Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun, who had earlier been turned from an accused into a state witness.

So far, 45 people—including families of martyrs, injured victims, doctors, and eyewitnesses—have testified in the case. Most witnesses have described the atrocities during the July coup and identified Sheikh Hasina, Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, and Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun as masterminds of the violence, demanding justice for the genocide.

Yesterday, Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md. Zakir Hossain testified, stating that on March 24, Mamun had voluntarily given a confessional statement before him under Section 164, repenting for his role in the events. A doctor from Mitford Hospital also gave testimony, supporting the prosecution’s charges.

Earlier, on July 10, the tribunal formally framed five charges of crimes against humanity against Hasina, Kamal, and Mamun, thereby paving the way for the trial to begin.
