Dhaka, Sep 07 (V7N) – The investigation into the murder of Golam Nafiz, a student martyred during the July Uprising at Farmgate, is nearing completion, prosecutors informed the International Crimes Tribunal-1 on Sunday.
Following the update, the tribunal directed investigators to finish the probe by September 28. On the same day, Additional Superintendent of Police Sachin Maulik, arrested in connection with the case, was produced before the court.
Nafiz, who had completed his SSC at Banani Bidyaniketan School and College, had recently enrolled in Class XI at Dhaka Naval College. Witnesses said that on the day of the incident he was wearing a Bangladesh flag tied around his head when he was shot dead. A rickshaw puller injured in the same incident later succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital.
Meanwhile, the tribunal also ordered the completion of the investigation by October 12 against 15 accused, including Fazle Karim Chowdhury, in the Wasim murder case in Chittagong.
In another proceeding, Shaheed Anas’ mother gave her testimony before the tribunal in the case of six killings at Chankharpul during the July coup. Breaking down in tears, she demanded justice for her son’s murder. So far, 8 witnesses have testified in this case, with 4 more scheduled to testify today.
At the same time, the International Crimes Tribunal-2 continued hearing testimony in the case of Shaheed Abu Sayeed’s murder. His father earlier told the court, “I want to see the trial of my son’s killing in my lifetime.”
