Dhaka, Aug 11 (V7N) – The formal trial began on Monday in the case related to the deadly shooting of six people during the July uprising in Chankharpool, Dhaka. International Crimes Tribunal Chief Prosecutor Mohammad Tajul Islam emphasized that attempts to thwart the trial by alleging counter-revolution or conspiracy will not succeed.
The hearing opened under Tribunal-1, led by Justice Md. Golam Mortaza Majumder. Prosecutor Tajul Islam outlined the case facts, including witness testimonies, audio evidence of former DMP Commissioner Habibur Rahman’s orders to open fire, and communications involving Sheikh Hasina and other officials directing suppression of the movement.
On the first day, Shaheed Shahariar Khan Anas’ father testified as a witness.
This case marks the second trial linked to the July Uprising after the case against Sheikh Hasina.
