Gazipur, Nov 17 (V7N) – A river protection-themed cultural event took place on Sunday at Sheetalakhya Agro Resort and Park in Kaliganj, Gazipur, aiming to raise awareness against river encroachment and pollution. The event included performances of songs, recitations of poetry, and other artistic presentations emphasizing environmental stewardship.
The chief guest was Rabibul Islam Sohel, a multidimensional organizer, poet, and Secretary-General of the River Ghorao Nodi’r Pothe Foundation. Bangladesh Television and Radio singer Ibrahim Khalil inaugurated the program as the opening guest. Special guests included Md. Jasim Uddin Sarkar, Head Teacher of the Narsingdi District School for the Intellectually Disabled and Autistic Students, and Md. Ali Hossain, Founder and CEO of MABS.
The session was chaired by Md. Mahbub Alam, Founder and Standing Committee President of Unmochon Sahitya Parishad (USAP). The event was organized by USAP in collaboration with Sahojatri and the Fair Price Product Distribution Program (Circle for Business Limited) and implemented by the River Ghorao Nodi’r Pothe Foundation, Gazipur, in coordination with its Narsingdi District branch.
Prominent cultural figures and organizers attending included Shanto Banik, Senior Vice President of Narsingdi Press Forum; poet and coordinator of the Human Rights Foundation, Nazmul Islam Sajib; USAP leader Md. Morad Bhuiya; student leader Sajjad Hossain Sayem; and labor leader Md. Neel Mia. The program highlighted the importance of preserving rivers and fostering public engagement in environmental protection.
Locals and participants praised the initiative for raising awareness on environmental issues and promoting cultural expressions as a medium for social change.
