Dhaka, Dec 16 (V7N) – The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested Humayun Kabir, the father of Faisal, the main accused in the shooting of Inquilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi. Acting on information provided by Faisal’s brother-in-law, authorities also recovered three firearms, including the weapon used in the attack, from a local pond. The RAB disclosed this information in the early hours of Tuesday, December 16, but did not reveal the exact time or location of Humayun Kabir’s arrest.
 
RAB officials confirmed that Humayun Kabir has been handed over to the Detective Branch (DB) for further investigation.
 
Earlier arrests in connection with the case include Faisal’s wife, Saheda Parvin Samia; Samia’s brother, Wahid Ahmed; his partner, Maria Akter Lima; close associate Kabir; and Abdul Hannan, the owner of the motorcycle used in the attack. Following their arrest, all individuals were presented in court and later sent to remand based on police requests.
 
Reliable sources informed Journalists that two other suspects, Faisal and Alamgir, fled to India via the Mymensingh border on the day of the incident. According to the sources, immediately after the attack, they traveled by private car from Mirpur to Ashulia, then via Gazipur to Mymensingh. At Dharabazar Petrol Pump, they switched vehicles and, with the assistance of a local resident, were transported by motorcycle to the Bhutiyapara border area, from where they crossed into India.
 
The RAB has intensified its investigation to apprehend the remaining suspects and recover additional evidence linked to the case. Authorities continue to call for public cooperation in providing information that may help locate Faisal and Alamgir.
