DHAKA, March 30 (V7N) – Prime Minister’s Foreign Affairs Adviser Humayun Kabir today handed over a letter of solidarity from Prime Minister Tarique Rahman to Qatar’s Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and held talks with senior Qatari leaders to strengthen bilateral ties.
Kabir, who arrived in Doha as the Prime Minister’s special envoy, met Qatar’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi and delivered the letter, said a foreign ministry press release.
In the letter, the Prime Minister conveyed Bangladesh’s solidarity with the leadership and people of Qatar amid the current regional situation and expressed appreciation for Qatar’s continued hosting of around 450,000 Bangladeshi expatriates, ensuring their safety and welfare.
He also recalled with gratitude the Amir’s support in arranging special air ambulances in 2025 for the medical treatment of former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia, and expressed Bangladesh’s readiness to extend assistance if required.
During the meeting, both sides discussed ways to deepen bilateral cooperation and praised Qatar’s role in promoting peace, dialogue, and humanitarian diplomacy.
The adviser also met Qatari Labour Minister Dr Ali bin Saeed bin Samikh Al Marri, conveyed condolences over a recent family bereavement, and invited him to visit Bangladesh.
Later, Kabir visited the Bangladesh Embassy in Doha to review issues related to the welfare of Bangladeshi nationals. He is expected to continue his tour with visits to other Gulf countries.
