Dhaka, Nov 11 (V7N) — Miscreants set fire to three passenger buses in the capital at midnight on Monday (November 10), marking yet another wave of arson attacks amid growing unrest in the city.
According to police sources, two buses of Raida Paribahan and one of Rajdhani Paribahan were set ablaze in separate incidents late at night.
Earlier in the evening, a private university bus caught fire in front of LabAid Hospital in Dhanmondi. Two units of the Fire Service and Civil Defence rushed to the spot around 7:30 pm and brought the blaze under control.
Later, at around 1:30 am, another bus was set on fire in Jatrabari. Police said that multiple incidents of arson and vandalism have been reported across different parts of the capital and other regions over the past few days. Law enforcement agencies are investigating the incidents as part of a broader effort to identify those behind the attacks.
Meanwhile, around 11 pm, two crude bombs (cocktails) exploded in front of the head office of the Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP), leaving four people injured. Party activists managed to catch two suspects while they were fleeing the scene.
NCP leaders alleged that the explosion was part of a planned act of sabotage intended to disrupt the Awami League’s lockdown program, which has been banned on November 13.
