Dhaka, July 28 (V7N) – The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Traffic Division has filed 1,724 cases in a single day for various violations of traffic laws in the capital. Many of the offenders were also fined on the spot, according to a press release issued by the DMP’s Media and Public Relations Division on Monday.
The enforcement drive took place on Sunday (July 27) and is part of a broader initiative to restore discipline on Dhaka’s congested roads. As part of the campaign, authorities dumped 261 vehicles and wrecked 105 others that were found to be in serious violation of regulations.
The DMP stated that such special drives will continue to ensure safer and more orderly traffic conditions across the Dhaka metropolitan area.
Traffic congestion and reckless driving remain persistent issues in the capital, and the police say they are stepping up operations to address these challenges and raise public awareness about road safety.
