Dhaka, July 22, (V7N) – The morning on the Milestone School and College campus in Uttara began with an eerie silence. The usual laughter and chatter of students were absent. Instead, the Haider Ali building, once bustling with activity from students of classes three to eight, now stands reduced to rubble and debris following the tragic crash of a Bangladesh Air Force training aircraft.

Law enforcement agencies have cordoned off the area, while Air Force personnel continue search and debris removal operations. The building, which bore the brunt of the crash, has been declared unsafe.

Outside the premises, grief-stricken families and concerned citizens gathered in large numbers. Students of the school announced a sit-in protest at 9 AM, raising a 6-point demand in response to the tragedy that claimed 25 lives and left over 170 injured.

The students' 6-point demands are:

  1. Publication of the correct names and details of the deceased

  2. Release of a complete and accurate list of the injured

  3. Unconditional public apology for the incident of Army personnel assaulting teachers

  4. Compensation from the Air Force to each family of the deceased students

  5. Immediate scrapping of outdated and risky Air Force aircraft, and replacement with modern alternatives

  6. Reform of Air Force training methods and relocation of training centers to ensure safety and humane practices

This protest marks a new phase of public outcry demanding accountability and reform in the aftermath of the July 21 crash, which has plunged the nation into mourning and raised serious questions about Air Force safety protocols near densely populated areas.

The government has already declared national mourning and promised a thorough investigation, but students and families insist that justice and reform must follow.
