Dhaka, July 18, (V7N) – A fire broke out late Thursday night in the DBI-3 department of Bangladesh Bank, located on the 21st floor of Sena Kalyan Bhaban in Motijheel, causing slight damage but no loss of important documents, said Arif Hossain Khan, spokesperson for the central bank.
Speaking to Jamuna Television on Friday (July 18), Khan said, “We are currently awaiting the Fire Service’s report on the cause of the fire. Necessary measures will be taken once the report is received.”
The blaze started around 10 pm and was brought under control after about an hour of firefighting efforts by five units from the Siddiq Bazar Fire Service station.
Assistant Director of the Fire Service, Kazi Najmuzzaman, said initial findings suggest the fire may have been caused by an electrical fault. An investigation committee will be formed to determine the exact cause.
