Dhaka, Feb 06 (V7N) — Bangladesh received US$506 million in remittances during the first four days of February, according to Bangladesh Bank.
At the current exchange rate of Tk 122 per US dollar, the amount stands at approximately Tk 61,732 million.
Of the total remittance inflow, Tk 2,196 million was received on Wednesday (February 4) alone.
Bangladesh Bank spokesperson Arif Hossain Khan disclosed the information while speaking to the media on Thursday (February 5) afternoon.
He said that during the first four days of February last year, the country received US$422 million in remittances. This means remittance inflows have increased by 19.80 percent compared to the same period last year.

According to Bangladesh Bank data:

From July 1 to February 4 of the current fiscal year, total remittance inflows stood at US$1,993 million.

During the same period of the previous fiscal year, remittances amounted to US$1,638 million.
Economists’ View
Economists believe the rise in remittance inflows reflects the positive impact of making the dollar exchange rate more market-oriented, encouraging expatriates to send money through legal channels. They also point to the simplification of remittance transfer procedures as a key factor boosting inflows.
