Dhaka, Feb 5, 2026 (V7N) – Bangladesh’s Chief of Naval Staff Admiral M Nazmul Hasan has directed forces to take maximum precautionary measures to safeguard polling centers, maintain law and order, and ensure voter safety during the upcoming 13th Jatiya Sangsad (parliamentary) elections and referendum scheduled for February 12.
During an inspection in Barguna, Admiral Hasan emphasized cooperation among the Navy, law enforcement agencies, and local administration to allow citizens to cast their votes “in a festive mood without fear,” according to a statement from the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The Navy is currently deployed in 25 upazilas across 16 constituencies under the “In Aid to Civil Power” framework, supporting civil authorities to guarantee free, fair, and peaceful polls.
At a meeting with officials including the Barishal Divisional Commissioner, senior police officers, election officials, and representatives from the Army, RAB, and Ansar, the Navy Chief reviewed preparations and offered guidance. He also observed ground activities of naval contingents engaged in election duties.
The directive underscores the government’s focus on security and transparency as Bangladesh prepares for its 13th parliamentary elections and referendum.
