KHAGRACHHARI, MAY 26 (V7N) – Nineteen new individuals, including women, men, and children, were reportedly pushed into Bangladesh through the Achalong border in Taindong Union of Matiranga Upazila, Khagrachhari, early Monday morning. Local sources indicate that these individuals are currently being held at DB Para School under the custody of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB)'s Krishna Dayal Border Outpost (BOP).

Among the group, there are 7 men, 7 women, and 5 children. They claim to be residents of Kurigram district in Bangladesh and stated that they had traveled to Haryana, India, in search of work. According to their accounts, they were flown from Haryana to Agartala by air, from where the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) brought them to Gulomanipara on the border of Karbuk in South Tripura and forcibly pushed them into Bangladesh in the early hours of Monday.

While local sources have confirmed the push-in, no clear statement has yet been received from the BGB.

Matiranga Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Manjurul Alam confirmed the incident and stated that an on-site investigation would be conducted. He added that further steps would be taken after the identities of the individuals are verified.

Deputy Commissioner Md. Iftekharul Islam Khandaker stated that all individuals who were pushed in are currently under BGB guard at a local school. He added that detailed inquiries are underway. If they are confirmed to be Bangladeshi nationals, they will be sent to their respective districts. However, if it is determined to be an infiltration, legal action will be pursued.

This incident follows a series of similar occurrences earlier this month, where 71 people were reportedly pushed in through various borders in Khagrachhari, including Shantipur, Taindong in Matiranga, Logang, and Ramgarh in Panchhari.
