Jhalokathi, Nov 08 (V7N) — Two people were killed, including a member of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), in separate road accidents in Nalchity upazila of Jhalokathi on Friday. Three others were critically injured.
The first accident occurred around 4:30 p.m. in front of Dapdapia Degree College when a bus, CNG, and auto-rickshaw collided head-on. RAB member Anwar Akon, 38, died on the spot. He was the son of Abdul Khalek Akon of Dudhoria village in Dapdapia Union and was currently serving with RAB-4 in Dhaka.
Three others sustained severe injuries in the crash and were rushed to Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital in Barishal for treatment.
Earlier, around 12:30 p.m., an elderly pedestrian, Ayful Begum, 70, was killed after being hit by a vehicle in front of the Palli Bidyut office in Pratap area. She was the wife of late Kashem Ali Hawlader from Dhapar village.
Nalchity Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdus Salam confirmed both incidents, saying police have recovered the bodies and are investigating the causes of the accidents.
