Jhalokathi, Sept 23 (V7N) – A 17-year-old schoolboy, Mohammad Nafish, died after falling from the roof while attending a nighttime picnic with friends in Jhalokathi. The incident occurred around midnight on Sunday, Sept 21, in the Kalabagan area of the town.
Nafish, son of expatriate Alauddin, was a tenth-grade student at Jhalokathi Technical School and College.
According to Nafish’s mother, Champa Begum, her son had told her he was going out to join friends for a picnic. She said she was later informed by police at around 4 a.m. on Monday that her son had been seriously injured. “When I arrived at the hospital, I found my son lifeless,” she said.
Moniruzzaman, Officer-in-Charge of Jhalokathi Sadar Police Station, confirmed that the body has been sent to Jhalokathi Sadar Hospital for post-mortem examination. He added that legal action is being taken regarding the incident.
Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding Nafish’s fall to determine whether negligence or other factors contributed to the tragedy. The local community has expressed grief over the untimely death of the young student.
