Tehran, Mar 10 (V7N) – Iran witnessed an unprecedented national event on Monday as millions of citizens took part in massive rallies across the country to swear loyalty to the new Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei. Analysts view the gathering as a significant demonstration of Tehran’s internal strength amid ongoing war and international pressure.
From Tehran’s historic Enghlab (Revolution) Square to smaller cities, people from all walks of life—including students, teachers, religious scholars, Basij members, and businessmen—participated in the swearing-in ceremony. Participants carried Iranian flags, portraits of the late Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, and images of Mojtaba Khamenei while chanting slogans such as, “The hand of God is upon us; Khamenei is our leader.”
The rally also served as a public condemnation of foreign powers, particularly the United States and Israel, denouncing the 12-day war in June, December unrest, and the recent military aggression that began on February 28. Protesters declared that they would not yield to external threats, warning that enemies were miscalculating and would face defeat.
Earlier on Monday, Iran’s Assembly of Experts officially appointed Mojtaba Khamenei as the country’s third Supreme Leader following the martyrdom of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who led Iran for 37 years after the death of Imam Khomeini in 1989. The Assembly emphasized that the decision was made promptly and judiciously to prevent any leadership vacuum amid ongoing conflicts.
Analysts say the massive turnout demonstrates the resilience of Iran’s political foundation, signaling that morale remains high despite the change in leadership and continuing international tensions. The mass rally represents not only loyalty but also a renewed determination for Iran’s resistance in the current geopolitical climate.
