Dhaka, June 29 (V7N) — The National Citizens Party (NCP) has announced a month-long nationwide march from July 1 to July 30 to mark the anniversary of the historic July Uprising. The program was unveiled by the party’s convener, Nahid Islam, at a press briefing on Sunday.

The march will be held under the theme “July March to Build the Nation”, and will begin with a visit to the grave of Shaheed Abu Sayeed. Among other key events, July 16 will be observed as Anti-Discrimination Martyrs’ Day, and on August 3, the party will hold a reading of the Student-Public Manifesto at the Shaheed Minar. Additionally, August 5 will be celebrated as the Liberation Day of the Student-Public.

Throughout the program, NCP activists will visit injured participants, families of martyrs, and other fellow fighters of the student-public movement, listening to their aspirations and views regarding the July uprising.

At the briefing, Nahid Islam voiced frustration over the delay in publishing the July Manifesto and the continued existence of the Awami League, stating that the participants in the uprising are not dependent on any political party or entity. He hinted at the possibility of issuing a declaration regarding the participants in the mass uprising, if necessary.

He further demanded that a clear roadmap for justice be announced before the elections, asserting that “whoever comes to power must pledge to continue the justice process.”

The NCP also formed a celebration committee to oversee the events, with Sarjis Alam appointed as convener and Anik Roy as member secretary.
