Rangpur, August 5 (V7N) – As part of the nationwide July Reawakening commemorations, various government bodies, civil society organizations, and the families of victims paid tribute Tuesday morning at the July Martyrs’ Memorial in Rangpur.
Floral wreaths were placed at the memorial site, located at the former Lakhmi Talkies grounds, to honor the memory of those killed during the July 2024 uprising. The family of martyr Abu Sayeed, including his father Mokbul Hossain and mother Monowara Begum, along with other martyrs’ families and veterans of the movement, led the tribute.
Senior officials from the divisional and district administrations, Rangpur Range DIG, Rangpur Metropolitan Police, Superintendent of Police of Rangpur, Highway Police, freedom fighter associations, and representatives from various public and private organizations were present.
The tribute ceremony began at 9:00 a.m. and continued until 11:00 a.m., with people arriving in groups to lay flowers and offer prayers at the memorial.
The July Reawakening program aims to honor those who gave their lives during the 2024 democratic movement and to reaffirm national solidarity and commitment to justice. The observance in Rangpur is part of a series of commemorative events held across Bangladesh to mark the anniversary of the uprising.
