Dhaka, Sep 21 (V7N) –  Jahangirnagar University (JU) administration has strongly condemned and rejected recent remarks by Jamaat leader Amir Hamza, calling his statement about the university “false, fabricated, and baseless.”

In an official notification issued on Sunday, JU authorities said they had taken note of Amir Hamza’s comments circulating on social media, in which he claimed to have been admitted to the university’s Department of Journalism and Media Studies and alleged that he saw “a porter drinking alcohol in the morning at a residential hall.” He further claimed that JU students had “beaten teachers with sticks.”

The university administration clarified that the Department of Journalism and Media Studies was only established in 2011, admitting its first batch of undergraduate students in the 2011–12 academic year. “Therefore, the information regarding his admission to this department is entirely untrue,” the notification stated.

On his allegations about alcohol use in the halls, the administration said: “His description is fabricated and without any evidence. The university has no such record of such incidents.”

Refuting his claim about teachers being attacked by students, JU authorities said the relationship between teachers and students at Jahangirnagar University has always been commendable.

The statement stressed that making false and misleading remarks about a national institution like Jahangirnagar University is not only unacceptable but also deeply regrettable. The administration urged Amir Hamza to exercise responsibility and refrain from spreading baseless claims.
