Rajshahi, July 4 (V7N) – Significant potholes have developed on the roads from Kashimbazar to Baya in Tanore and along the Choubaria route, severely disrupting traffic and endangering commuters' lives. Passengers traveling by bus, truck, CNG, and motorcycles face extreme difficulties due to the damaged road conditions, with some vehicles’ tires getting stuck in large potholes.

A field visit revealed multiple damaged spots along the road, including Kaliganj Bazar Mor, Deotola Mor South Road, in front of Chanduria Chakir Ghat Bridge, near Nais Garden at Hardah Bill, and several areas around Baghdhani and Baghsara Mor. At Hardah Bill on Monday, a loaded truck remained stuck in a pothole for nearly four hours, preventing any bus or truck movement along that stretch.

Bus driver Kalam expressed frustration, questioning how long the roads would remain in such a dilapidated state without repair. Prolonged neglect of these damaged sections has caused waterlogging during the rainy season, rendering the roads unsafe and inconvenient for travel. This situation creates significant hardships for the public and poses a severe risk to lives.

The damaged roads are also disrupting essential city transportation and agricultural product movement. Local residents urge the authorities to urgently repair the roads to alleviate the crisis.

Tanore Upazila Engineer Saidur Rahman stated that the section from Baya Mor to Kashimbazar Mor, including Hardah Bill, falls under Tanore Upazila jurisdiction, while the adjacent section belongs to Paba Upazila. He assured that repair works on the pothole-affected Choubaria road are underway and efforts will be accelerated to restore normal traffic flow soon.
