Dhaka, July 22 (V7N) – DNA samples have been collected from six unidentified victims of the tragic fighter jet crash at Milestone School and College in Uttara, the Health Ministry confirmed in a late-night notification issued around 1:00 am on Tuesday (July 22).
The ministry stated that the six bodies are currently kept at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) morgue in Dhaka but have not yet been identified. In response, the ministry’s forensic experts have collected samples from the bodies to conduct DNA profiling.
The analysis will be conducted at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Laboratory in Malibagh, the notification said. To assist with identification, family members of those still missing in the crash are being urgently requested to visit the CID building in Malibagh to provide their DNA samples for matching.
“So far, only one family of a missing person has submitted a DNA sample,” the statement noted. “Once additional family samples are received, the identities of the six unidentified victims will be confirmed through DNA matching in the shortest possible time.”
The Air Force FT-7 BGI fighter jet, used for training, crashed into the school building in Uttara on Monday afternoon, killing 32 people, including children, teachers, and the pilot. Many victims were severely burned, making visual identification difficult, officials said.
The Health Ministry has called for immediate cooperation from the families of the missing to help ensure proper identification and funeral rites for the deceased.
