DHAKA, March 16, (V7N) – A Dhaka court today ordered Md Abdus Salam to jail after he was arrested for impersonating the Prime Minister’s personal assistant (PA) and engaging in fraudulent activities.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Arifur Rahman passed the order when police produced Salam before the court and sought a five-day remand. The defence argued for bail, but the court rejected the plea and set March 24 for hearing on the remand application.
According to case documents, Salam had long been using the false identity of the Prime Minister’s PA to carry out illegal financial transactions, employment trading in government and private offices, and fraud against ordinary citizens.
Police arrested him on March 15 from the Agargaon water tank area after verifying evidence of his activities.
