Chennai, Feb 15 (V7N) — South Indian superstar Dhanush is at the center of controversy as his long-awaited film ‘Naan Rudran’, which began production in 2016, remains unreleased. The delay has prompted the production company, Thenandal Films, to take legal action.
Legal Notice and Allegations
According to the legal notice, Dhanush, who acted and reportedly directed the film, failed to submit the complete script on time and was preoccupied with multiple projects. This led to repeated postponements of the shoot, escalating production costs and financial losses for the company.
The notice states that the film must be completed by December 2026. If not, Dhanush could be liable to pay Rs 20 crore as compensation plus an additional Rs 1 crore. The production company has also warned of stricter legal measures if no response is received within a week.
Payments to Actors and Delays
Several actors, including S.J. Surya and Naga Arjun Akkineni, have already been paid, yet filming remains incomplete. Industry insiders describe the project as being “stuck in a time warp” due to these repeated delays.
Industry and Fan Reactions
The prolonged postponement has sparked widespread discussion in the South Indian film industry. Fans and insiders alike are questioning whether ‘Naan Rudran’ will ever see a theatrical release or remain mired in legal complications.
The situation highlights the financial and creative risks associated with extended production delays in the film industry.
