JHALAKATHI, March 5, (V7N) - The District Detective Branch (DB) police arrested a drug dealer with 25 pieces of Yaba tablets during a raid in Nalchhiti upazila of Jhalakathi on Thursday night.

The operation took place at Shimultala intersection in Jurkathi area of Dapadapia union around 9:25 pm, based on a secret tip-off. A DB team led by SI Md. Harunar Rashid arrested Md. Ripon Khalifa (39), son of the late Maharam Khalifa of Sikderpara, Nalchhiti.

Police said a search in front of witnesses recovered 25 pink Yaba tablets wrapped in white polythene from Ripon’s jeans pocket. A seizure list was prepared at 9:45 pm, and the narcotics were confiscated.

Authorities confirmed that a case under the Narcotics Control Act is being processed. DB police stated that anti-drug operations are ongoing across the district.
