Feb 04 (V7N) - Senior journalist of the Patharghata Press Club, Patharghata Upazila correspondent of Daily Janakantha, and prominent gold trader Binoy Bhushan, also known as Khokan Karmakar, passed away on Tuesday morning, leaving the local journalism, business, and social communities in deep mourning.
He breathed his last at around 7:30am on February 3 while undergoing treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Ali Azgar Hospital in Dhaka. He had been receiving medical treatment in the capital for a prolonged period.
Binoy Bhushan was born on February 21, 1969, and was a resident of Ward No. 1 of Patharghata Municipality. He was the son of the late Lakshmi Karmakar.
Throughout his career, he earned a reputation for integrity, professionalism, and dedication. He worked for many years as a journalist, reporting local and national issues with honesty and responsibility, and was widely regarded as a credible and respected figure in the media circle of Patharghata.
In addition to journalism, he was also a well-known and successful gold trader. He played an active role in the Goldsmiths’ Association, where he carried out important responsibilities with commitment and skill.
Following his death, gold traders and shop owners in Patharghata observed a spontaneous closure of shops as a mark of respect. A wave of grief also swept through the local journalist community, business circles, and residents from all walks of life.
Various social, professional, and cultural organizations, including the Patharghata Press Club, expressed profound sorrow at his passing and conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.
The community prayed for the eternal peace of his departed soul and sought prayers for strength and patience for his family during this difficult time.
