Rangamati, Nov 16 (V7N) – Advocate Dipan Dewan, former President of the Rangamati District BNP, former Senior Joint District Judge, and Assistant Secretary for Religious Affairs of the BNP National Executive Committee, took part in a special religious ceremony at Rajban Vihara on Saturday morning, seeking prayers for the recovery of BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia, as well as the well-being of Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman and his family.
During the ceremony, Dewan offered Sanghadana and performed traditional offerings, including the Ashtapariskar ritual. The event was conducted by Buddhist monks under the leadership of Pragnalankar Mahathero, the resident chief of Rajban Vihara, who led the proceedings with customary religious rites.
Expressing gratitude to the BNP high command for nominating him as the party’s candidate from Constituency 299 (Rangamati), Dewan said that his participation in the ceremony was also an expression of thankfulness for the trust placed in him.
Family members accompanied him at the event, along with district BNP Joint Secretary Debojyoti Chakma, District Zia Parishad President Manas Mukur Chakma, Zia Parishad Sonali Bank PLC Central Committee President Subhash Chandra Chakma, Rangamati Sadar Upazila BNP General Secretary Ronel Dewan, District BNP Assistant Secretary for Student Affairs and former Naniarchar Upazila Vice Chairman Rono Bikash Chakma, District Swechchhasebak Dal Joint Convener Rahul Chakma, as well as leaders from various affiliated organizations.
Participants expressed hopes for a peaceful environment ahead of the coming national election and called for collective efforts to ensure harmony and the overall development of Rangamati.
