Ukhiya, Nov 16 (V7N) – Shahjahan Chowdhury, former Member of Parliament for Cox’s Bazar-4 (Ukhiya-Teknaf) and president of the district BNP, said on Saturday that no one other than the BNP has genuinely worked for the repatriation of Rohingya refugees. Speaking at the “New Membership Enrollment and Renewal Program” organized by the Ukhiya Upazila BNP at Ukhiya Government High School as part of a central BNP initiative, he criticized others for exploiting the Rohingya crisis for personal gain, including Nobel Prize recognition or financial profit.
“If the BNP forms the government, Rohingya refugees will be sent back to their homeland with dignity. They are citizens of Myanmar, and only Tarique Rahman can ensure their safe repatriation,” he said.
Shahjahan Chowdhury also announced plans to create employment opportunities for youth and establish a technical college in Ukhiya to boost local education and skill development.
The event was chaired by Ukhiya Upazila BNP President and former Upazila Chairman Sarwar Jahan Chowdhury. Selina Sultana Nishita, former central vice president of the BNP Chhatra Dal and team leader for the membership program, urged party workers to actively implement the 31-point plan outlined by Tarique Rahman. She emphasized that following these initiatives would advance the nation’s development and strengthen nationalist forces to ensure a decisive victory for the BNP’s election symbol, the sheaf of paddy, in the upcoming polls.
Other speakers included M.A. Moktar, Dalilur Rahman Shahin, Rafiqul Huda, Alamgir Hannan, Monirul Islam Chowdhury, and Shah Alam, secretary of the Ulama wing. The program was coordinated by Ukhiya Upazila BNP General Secretary Sultan Mahmud Chowdhury and Faisal Sikdar Titu.
The program highlighted BNP’s commitment to Rohingya repatriation, youth development, and strengthening the party’s organizational structure in preparation for future elections.
