Bagerhat, Nov 15 (V7N) – BNP’s Central Education Affairs Secretary and Bangladesh Open University Vice-Chancellor Dr. A.B.M. Obaidul Islam has urged voters from all communities to unite beyond religious identity and support the Dhaner Shish symbol in the upcoming election.
Speaking on Friday evening at the 134th birth anniversary celebration of Srishreemad Durgaprasanna Paramhansadeb in Morelganj, Dr. Obaidul Islam said that the BNP stands for communal harmony and equal rights for all religious groups. He added that the implementation of the BNP’s 31-point reform agenda, announced by Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, would further strengthen the bonds of unity and ensure social peace among all communities.
The BNP leader attended the event after completing his election campaign in Morelganj municipality. He joined devotees at the Serestadarbari Temple premises during the Mahanam Yajna ceremony and later spoke at a views-exchange meeting.
Among those who addressed the gathering were newly joined BNP leader and President of the Matuya Bahujan Oikya Parishad Somnath Dey, Upazila BNP General Secretary Advocate Mehedi Hasan Yad, former Municipal BNP President Abdul Majid Jabbar, BNP leaders Gias Uddin Talukdar, Professor Abdul Awal, Principal Jahangir Al Azad, Bir Muktijoddha Ruhul Amin Fakir, Upazila Jubo Dal Member-Secretary B.M. Rezaul Karim Sohag, Temple Committee representative Asim Karmakar, General Secretary Dipak Karmakar, former Upazila Chhatra Dal President Abu Saleh, Municipal Jubo Dal convener Mizanur Rahman Palash, Khaulia Union BNP General Secretary Enamul Haque, and Chhatra Dal leader Mehedi Hasan Sojal, among others.
Local leaders expressed confidence that greater interfaith cooperation and political inclusiveness would support stability in the region. Organizers thanked the BNP delegation for attending the ceremony and acknowledging the cultural and religious traditions of the Hindu community in Morelganj.
