Bagerhat, Nov 13 (V7N) – A grand religious procession was held in Morelganj upazila of Bagerhat on Thursday to celebrate the 130th birth anniversary of Shri Shri Durga Prosanna Paramahansadev, the revered founder of Shri Guru Sangha.
The procession, organized by Shri Guru Sangha, began at 11 a.m. from the Serestadarbari Temple premises carrying the portrait of the spiritual leader. It paraded through various streets of the town before returning to the temple. Hundreds of male and female devotees, followers, and worshippers participated in the colorful rally, which created a festive atmosphere across the area.
Among the distinguished participants was Kazi Khairuzzaman Shipon, a candidate aspirant for the Bagerhat-4 (Morelganj–Sharankhola) constituency.
Following the procession, a discussion meeting was held at the temple courtyard. Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Atish Sarkar and Upazila BNP President Shahidul Haque Babul attended as special guests. The welcome address was delivered by Asim Karmakar, president of Shri Guru Sangha Temple.
Other speakers included Officer-in-Charge of Morelganj Police Station Motlubur Rahman, Upazila BNP Vice President Matiur Rahman Bachchu, Municipal BNP General Secretary Asaduzzaman Milon, Organizational Secretary Md. Abbas Munshi, and BNP leader Badiuzzaman Maharaj. The event was conducted by Dipak Karmakar, General Secretary of Shri Guru Sangha Temple.
The five-day celebration began with the hoisting of the Sangha flag at 9 a.m., followed by devotional prayers, collective remembrance rituals, and a 24-hour continuous chanting of the holy “Shri Shri Tarkabrahma Mahanaam Yajna.” The event drew a large number of devotees and spiritual followers, marking a vibrant start to the annual festival of faith and devotion in Morelganj.
