Bagerhat, Nov 09 (V7N) — A grand felicitation ceremony was held at Daibognyahati Selimabad Degree College in Bagerhat’s Morrelganj to honor distinguished former students and respected guardians.
Speaking as the chief guest, former Senior Secretary to the Government of Bangladesh, Dr. Mohammad Mashiur Rahman, emphasized the importance of establishing a truly democratic government in the country. He said that working for the welfare of people and national interest is a moral responsibility, not a political ambition. “Our progress stems from personal commitment. We continue to work for the nation’s betterment, and I am actively pursuing the establishment of the proposed Selimabad Police Station,” he stated.
The event, held on Saturday at noon on the college premises, was presided over by the college’s acting principal, Md. Shahidul Islam. Former Senior Secretary Dr. Faridul Islam Bablu attended as a special guest.
Other speakers included district BNP leader and nomination aspirant for Bagerhat-3 constituency (Morrelganj-Sharankhola-Kachua) Kazi Khairuzzaman Shipon, General Secretary of Bagerhat District Red Crescent Society Advocate Nazrul Islam Kajol, Principal of Pirojpur Mohila College Md. Rafiqul Islam Rafiq, Central President of the Jatiyatabadi Bandhu Dal Sharif Mostafa Zaman Litu, former Union Parishad Chairman Ataur Rahman, Senior Joint Secretary of Morrelganj BNP Lecturer Russell Al Islam, and former convener of Kachua Upazila Chhatra Dal Rana Dihidar.
Among others present were Daibognyahati Union BNP President Sheikh Mizanur Rahman Diyar, General Secretary Alam Parvez Liton, General Secretary of Upazila Secondary Teachers’ Association Lutfar Rahman Talukdar, President of the ’90 Chhatra Dal Forum Ferdous Khan, and District BNP leader Kamruzzaman Shimul, alongside teachers, journalists, students, and local social and political figures.
During the ceremony, the chief guest presented crests to the college’s outstanding students and honored guardians for their contributions.
In his address, Dr. Mashiur Rahman further noted that Bagerhat has witnessed substantial development in the past year. “Many projects have already been completed, and others are underway. As this is my birthplace, I feel deeply committed to the development of this area — from education and communication to all sectors of progress,” he said.
The event was conducted by Engineer H.M. Aminur Rahman.
