Dhaka, Sep 01 (V7N) – The International Crimes Tribunal-1 on Monday (September 1) is hearing the tenth day of testimony in the crimes against humanity case against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, and three others over atrocities committed during the July–August Movement.

Several doctors are expected to testify today, while former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun, who was converted from accused to state witness, was also produced before the tribunal.

So far, 29 witnesses — including family members of martyrs, injured survivors, doctors, and eyewitnesses — have testified. They described the atrocities carried out during the July coup and demanded justice for what they called genocide. Many witnesses also named Hasina, Kamal, and Mamun as the “masterminds behind the incidents.”

On July 10, the tribunal formally indicted the accused, framing five charges of crimes against humanity against them.

According to the prosecution, the formal complaint spans 8,747 pages, including 2,018 pages of references, 405 pages of seized and documentary evidence, and 2,724 pages listing martyrs. A total of 81 witnesses are scheduled to testify.

The investigation report was submitted by the Tribunal’s Investigation Agency to the Chief Prosecutor on May 12 this year.
