Dhaka, July 30 (V7N) – All courts in Bangladesh, including the Supreme Court, will remain closed on August 5 in observance of the July People's Uprising Day, which has been officially declared a general holiday by the government.

The closure was announced in two separate notices issued by the Supreme Court on Tuesday (July 29).

According to the notices, the Cabinet Division on July 2 declared August 5 as ‘July People's Uprising Day’, which will be marked each year with a nationwide general holiday. In line with this directive:

  • Both divisions of the Supreme Court (Appellate and High Court) will remain closed on August 5 (Tuesday).

  • All subordinate courts and tribunals across the country will also be closed on the same day.

This marks the first official observance of the People’s Uprising Day since its declaration, recognizing the July 2024 mass movement as a significant moment in the nation's political history.
