DHAKA, Mar 31 (V7N) — Gold prices in Bangladesh have seen another significant hike, with the price of the highest-quality 22-carat gold increasing by Tk 3,266 per bhori. The Bangladesh Jewellers’ Association (BAJUS) announced the new rates on Tuesday morning, attributing the adjustment to a rise in the price of pure gold (tejabi gold) in the local market.
The new pricing, which came into effect at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, sets the following rates:
| Gold Quality | New Price (per Bhori) |
| 22-Carat | Tk 2,44,711 |
| 21-Carat | Tk 2,33,572 |
| 18-Carat | Tk 2,00,213 |
| Traditional (Sanatan) | Tk 1,63,063 |
Market Trends and Volatility
This latest hike marks the 50th price adjustment by BAJUS in 2026 alone—a stark contrast to the same period last year, which saw only 17 adjustments. Of the 50 revisions this year, prices have been increased 29 times and reduced on 21 occasions, reflecting the extreme volatility of the global and local gold markets amid ongoing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.
In addition to gold, silver prices have also been adjusted upward. The price of 22-carat silver has risen by Tk 350, now standing at Tk 5,715 per bhori.
BAJUS reminded consumers that the final retail price will also include a mandatory 5 percent government VAT and a minimum 6 percent making charge, though the latter may vary depending on the intricacy of the jewelry design.
