Dhaka, Nov 16 (V7N) – Bangladesh Police officers have officially started wearing their new iron-colored uniforms, marking a visible transformation for metropolitan and specialized units across the country. The rollout began on Saturday, November 15, with members of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) leading the initiative, while district-level units are expected to adopt the new attire in phases.

Muhammad Talebur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner of Media and Public Relations at DMP, confirmed that officers are now patrolling in the new uniforms, which are designed to present a modern and accountable image for the police force. The uniforms are being initially introduced in DMP, Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP), and specialized units including Highway Police, River Police, and the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI).

Assistant Inspector General (Media) A.H.M. Sahadat Hossain had previously stated that the new iron-colored uniforms, featuring a distinct design, would be distributed to metropolitan and specialized units by November 15, followed by gradual deployment to range and district-level police personnel.

The change in uniform is part of a broader reform initiative approved on January 20 this year, following public movements in July of the previous year. Along with Bangladesh Police, the update also applies to Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Party, as well as the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB). The reform aims to give security forces a modern identity symbolizing accountability and professionalism.

This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to modernizing law enforcement attire, enhancing visibility, and reinforcing public confidence in policing services nationwide.
