Gaza, Sept 18 (V7N) – Israeli forces launched a new wave of attacks on Gaza, hitting areas near some of the few hospitals still operational, while a ground assault on Gaza City continues, resulting in a mounting civilian toll.
Medical officials reported that at least 83 Palestinians were killed on Thursday. Missiles struck areas surrounding al-Shifa and al-Ahli hospitals, further disrupting essential services for the sick, wounded, and starving residents. At least 15 people were killed outside al-Shifa Hospital, while four others died near al-Ahli in a separate attack.
Hamas condemned the strikes, calling them a “full-fledged war crime” and emphasizing that they occurred “less than 24 hours after the release of a new UN report documenting the occupation’s commission of the crime of genocide against our people.” The group described the attacks as “a blatant message of defiance and contempt for the international community.”
The UK’s Middle East Minister, Hamish Falconer, expressed horror at the bombardment of al-Rantisi, a hospital providing care to injured children in Gaza. He wrote on social media, “Babies in incubators and children on dialysis should not be under bombardment.”
According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, the children’s hospital was struck three times, forcing 40 patients to evacuate, while another 40 remained trapped inside with medical staff.
The attacks underscore the increasingly dire humanitarian situation in Gaza, with hospitals and critical infrastructure under repeated assault amid ongoing military operations.
